Tournament Results and Upcoming Tournaments in Bothell!

Over the break Frank Love students attended two different chess tournaments.  The first was on President’s day in Redmond.  Aidan, Andy, Austin, Cooper, Drew, Hayden, Kenney, Rohan, Roshan and Vanessa all competed.  The was Aidan’s first time ever competing in a chess tournament.  Hayden got 3 points and qualified for the state tournament!  He won 5th place in his division.  Curtis also got 3 points and re-qualified for the state tournament.  Rohan got 3.5 and won 5th place in his division.  Roshan got 4 points and won 3rd place in his division.  The combined team score earned Frank Love a second place team trophy!  Congratulations!

The second tournament was on Saturday February 23rd in Shoreline.  Austin, Curtis, Elliott, Jack, Kenney and Seth all competed.  This was the first tournament ever for Jack, Elliott and Seth.   Elliott won a participation medal.  Jack won a kindergarten trophy with 1.5 points.  Seth won 10th place for 4th grade.  Austin earned 3 points.  He qualified for state and he won 8th place for 1st grade!   Kenney won 3rd place for 5th grade.  Curtis won 1st place for 3rd grade.  I’m so proud of all of them!

Unfortunately we didn’t have enough players to be considered a team at the Shoreline tournament.  They took the top 4 for grades 1-3 and the top 4 for 4-6.  Hopefully this weekend at Heritage Christian we’ll have enough for a chance at a team trophy or two ;).
